Retired greyhound racers make great house pets!   Naples Fort Myers (and all other greyhound tracks) hosts the adopt-a-greyhound program whereby fans can adopt one (or more) dogs right at the race track. Our "ADOPT A GREYHOUND" booth is on the main floor of the grandstand. It is open during all Friday, Saturday and Sunday racing performances. Though the dogs are trained athletes, once they retire they are considered among the most affectionate, well behaved and intelligent pets. They don't bark continuously…they don't jump on you…they travel well…and in most cases the adoptable greyhounds are quite young (2-3 yrs old) with a life expectancy of 11 years.
